The ABC’s of Medicare

The most commonly known parts of Medicare are Part A and Part B. The difference between the two are as follows:
Part A – If you are hospitalized, Medicare helps pay for medical bills associated with a hospital stay and limited time at a skilled nursing facility if you are discharged for rehabilitation. Home health care and hospice care are other services covered by Part A.
Part B – Services provided by doctors and other health care providers, outpatient care, home health care, durable medical equipment and some preventive services are covered by this part of Medicare.

Other Medicare Options

Medigap – This a type of supplemental policy that helps pay Medicare out-of-pocket copayment, coinsurance, and deductible expenses.

Medicare Advantage Plan – This program is a bundled plan that includes all benefits and services covered under Part A and Part B, prescription drugs and other benefits including vision, hearing, and dental.

Prescription Drug Plan – Also known as Part D, this is Medicare’s prescription drug coverage plan.
